Najib's Blog: FUTURE READY: GROWING PROSPECTS - THE IRAQ MOBILE PHONE MARKET
Kazi Najib Ashraf is a Telecoms Professional and a Blogger and he is a contributor to www.handelot.com, he can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Being one of the leading countries in terms of mobile phone penetration, Iraq offers great opportunities for brands to move in and make use of immense opportunities. The market is ripe for new entrants that are committed and have a long term perspective with Marketing and Service Investments. Samsung, Apple, and Huawei dominate the Smart phone segment as HTC, Sony and other prominent brands are struggling to stay afloat. Feature phones still rule the domain with a sizable consumption.
Iraqi customers require warranty service and quality products whereas the reseller's priority is only to maximize their profitability. There has been a huge influx of used Apple devices in the market as well making a dent in the sales of Android phones.
New Malls are popping up with consumers now moving slowly towards purchasing from Key Resellers. However, the IR market is still flourishing and requires the Brands to regularly bring in promotions and offers.
Top seasonality in the market is from June-August.
I would like to thank Osama Hussein Albedawi, CEO Phonetic Tone in Iraq for the valuable input.
