China to allow video games nation wide

After 14 years of suspension of selling video game products in China , the Chinese government allowed a trial of video game console sales in Shanghai just last year .

The trial period of selling game consoles in Shanghai free trade zone has been successful and now the government is trying to implement the rules to facilitate and sell game consoles and video games . Local governments must draft detailed rules to allow the business and submit them to Ministry of Commerce by Saturday, according to a statement from the State Council posted on the central government’s website Thursday. The cabinet also let policies for some customs procedures and foreign-exchange settlement be adopted outside of the zone .

Microsoft has already launch its Xbox One and has already reported a good number of sales while Sony still did not launch Playstation 4 in that region yet – rumours say that the cause for the delay has been that the officials were not happy that the console was region free . It is estimated that this market will increase the income of Microsot , Sony and Nintendo on up to 10 billion USD .

Chinese manufacturers also want to seize this opportunity and enter the market with their own products . ZTE Corp. China’s second-biggest maker of phone-network equipment, in March announced a venture with online game developer The9 Ltd. to make a gaming console called the Fun Box . While TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd announced the T2Game Player.
